Course Title: Sound Editing for Graphic Artists
Credit Hours: (2- 0) 2 Cr. Hrs.
Description:
This course provides an introduction to the basic concepts of sound production for computer and video based delivery systems. Also emphasized are the necessary hardware/software, sound recording and editing, file management and transfer, and aesthetic considerations.
Prerequisite:
(A requirement that must be completed before taking this course.)

Competencies:
Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Know the difference between analog, digital, and synthesized sound.
- Know what sample rate and bit depth is and how they affect quality and download/playback time.
- Practice good file management techniques.
- Be able to do simple sound recording and editing for the electronic media.
- Be familiar with the necessary equipment, hardware and software necessary for basic sound production.
- Have an understanding of the aesthetics of sound and be able to use sound effectively to enhance an image sequence in a variety of applications.
- Have an understanding and respect for the sound professional. Be familiar with their equipment, studio set ups, software, and training.
